Job Summary:

 

The Child Nutrition Supervisor supports the planning, coordination, and oversight of all aspects of the district’s school nutrition programs. This position assists with ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; managing budgets and resources; supervising staff; and contributing to the promotion of nutritious meal offerings in an educational setting.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Child Nutrition Director in managing operations of the school nutrition program across the district.
  • Ensure all program activities comply with USDA, state, and local regulations and policies.
  • Help develop menus that meet nutritional guidelines while being cost-effective and student-friendly.
  • Oversee procurement processes, inventory control, and vendor relationships.
  • Support training and supervision of cafeteria managers and staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of program budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Coordinate food safety and sanitation practices district-wide, ensuring compliance with health department requirements.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for program growth, innovation, and student engagement.
  • Substitute for the Director as needed in meetings or during absences.
  • Use technology and nutrition software systems for reporting and data analysis.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in school nutrition or food service management.
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state school nutrition guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and nutrition management software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:

 

  •  Ability to travel between school sites and attend offsite trainings or meetings.
  •  Occasional lifting.
  •  Extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking depending on the task.


Work Environment:

 

This position operates in both an office environment and school nutrition settings, including kitchens and cafeterias. Occasional exposure to varying temperatures and kitchen equipment is expected.
